What is Ahhhsome Relaxation doing to keep all their staff and guests safe and well?
The COVID-19 virus has hit our entire world hard! Everyone knows someone who has had the virus and many have even had it themselves.
The attitude we are taking at Ahhhsome is:"Do all we can to protect everyone!".
We have always strived to keep everything clean and germ free with cleaning solutions that protect our most sensitive guests. When COVID-19 hit we knew we needed to make sure our cleaning solutions would kill that specific virus. For a short time, we used Lysol products but continued looking for better solutions. We searched for products that are specifically used in hospitals to kill COVID-19 but also will do no harm to either the environment or our most sensitive guests. We finally found the answers to our concerns!
We are now using two new cleaning solutions, a cleaner called Hypochlorous Acid and Ultraviolet C (UVC) light. Both are used in hospitals throughout the country to sanitize surgical and ICU units and equipment. Both are non-toxic to people and the environment and both options work.
Below you will find a short summary of all we are doing, suggesting, and offering here at Ahhhsome Relaxation followed by detailed information about our two new cleaning solutions Hypochlorous Acid cleaner & UVC light.

Putting it all together

Negative ions are released in the air with various pieces of equipment. Negative ions attach to the smallest of particles in the air and drop them to the floor.

Cleaning Towels & Cups
We have cleaning towels and cups located convienently in the locker room for all of our guests to carry around with them as they use the equipment here at Ahhhsome. This ensures each therapy will be sanitized, by you, before and after use.
Hand Washing Station
We have provided a hand washing station in the Relaxation Lounge. We encourage each of our guests to fully wash their hands before they begin any therapies.
Sanitized Hot Towels
We use Hydrochlorous Acid to sanitize all of our hot towels. The towels are used as an additional precautionary step prior to and after visits to Ahhhsome.
Hypochlorous acid cleaner
We have continued to offer cleaning stations for all of the equipment. These are locations throughout Ahhhsome that have a spray bottle and clean towels that you can spray then wipe down your piece of equipment before and after you use it. We have offered these stations since we opened, but now with COVID-19 people are wondering....
Q. What's in the spray bottles?
A. Hypochlorous acid (aka. REDOX CLEANER)
Q. Is it toxic to humans?
A. No, it will not harm humans or the environment. In Europe it is predominantly used for sterilizing the water lines. The food industry around the world has used it to clean food. That stuff that sprays down on the fresh food and veggies in the grocery store, often that's hypochlorous acid. Here in the US doctors irrigate eyes and clean wounds with it. Our white blood cells make it. Hypochlorous acid is bio-compatible for humans.
Q. What makes hypochlorous acid amazing?
A. A couple of things. First, it cleans better and faster than any standard medical grade cleaner than we are used to. It cleans better and faster than Virex or CaviCide or Lysol, or any of those types of cleaners. Second, we can put it in a spray bottle or mister and kill the virus in the air! If we used Lysol for that it would be toxic and would make everyone feel uncomfortable.
Q. Does it kill COVID-19?
A. YES it kills the COVID-19 virus!
Hypochlorous acid (HOCI) is a disinfectant that is lethal to every pathogen harmful to humans including pathogens such as MRSA, E. Coli, Candida, Meningitis, Encephalitis, Salmonella, HIV, Epstein Barr, SARS-CoV-2 and much more. It is used in hospitals throughout the world to disinfect the most important spaces. (Neonatal units, intensive care units, surgical suites)
It disinfects 120 times more effectively than bleach (NaCIO) -- yet is non-toxic and non-irritating. Bacteria can't become resistant to it -- in fact, it kills every pathogen (virus, bacteria, fungus, mold, etc) that it has been scientifically tested against. Q. How is it made?
A. Hypochlorous acid is made by taking a brine solution (salt - NaCl and water - H20 ) and putting it through a specialized piece of equipment that electrically separates the atoms through electrolysis. The process yields Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and the Hypochlorite Ion (OCl-). The important part of the process is to create a solution that maintains a neutral pH. While HOCl and OCl both fight bacteria, they are not present in equal proportions and it is the HOCl that is most effective at fighting bacteria. HOCI exists most abundantly in a near neutral pH and according to a University of Illinois study, HOCI is 120 times more effective as a sanitizer than the - OCI ion.

What is UVC Light?
Ultraviolet - C light is a form of electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength from 10 to 400 nm, shorter than that of visible light, but longer than X-rays. UV radiation is present in sunlight, and constitutes about 10% of the total electromagnetic radiation output from the sun.
At Ahhhsome Relaxation we are using a UVC lamp that is used in medical offices and ambulances to kill pathogens. Hospitals have been using the same UVC light wavelength, 254 nm, technology for years to kill germs, viruses, bacteria, and mold in operating suites and ICU units.
